Introducing Chaney Windows and Doors Bike Shark p/b Pastaria
Chaney Windows and Doors Big Shark pb Pastaria is entering their second season on the crit scene in 2026 with an expanded team and race schedule. However, this team has been around longer than many realize. Scott Chaney began sponsoring an international group of elite track racers back in 2021 when the UCI opened up their track races to trade teams. Scott, a huge fan of the sport, wanted to help foster the next round of Olympic hopefuls and help these young people who had been passed over by USA Cycling’s closed shop. At the end of 2024, the UCI reversed course and closed international races to trade teams and Scott had to change course. Enter Nick Hand, Mike Weiss, and Mike Morales. All long time friends and a part of the St Louis cycling scene. Nick had spoken to Scott years prior about building a crit squad. With the UCI no longer allowing for trade teams, Scott decided to pivot and expand his sponsorship by building out a Domestic Elite Crit team as well as supporting individuals on the track.
With little time to create a crit squad from scratch the management of the Chaney Windows and Doors team (Scott Chaney, Nick Hand, Mike Weiss, Mike Morales, and Danny Robertson) were able to build a small crit squad that shared members off the track squad. They would focus on the ACC schedule and aim for solid top ten results. What started as low expectations and a “dipping of the toe” became a season-long battle between CWD’s Owen Gillot and Legion’s Danny Summerhill for the Green Sprinters Jersey, coming down to the last race of the year on The Hill During the Bommarito Audi West County Gateway Cup. Owen Gillot was able to take the green jersey in the team’s first season racing crits and Tim Smith took 7th in the overall.
While all that was going on, the CWD track squad was racing nationally and internationally, finishing the season with podiums at USA Elite Nationals.
In the off season, management has been busy bringing on new sponsors like State Bicycle Company, who supplied their all new Carbon Road bike, and SRM supplying their premier spider based power meters. CWD has expanded their roster to ten riders as well. Returning are Mike Morales (rider/manager) Owen Gillot, Tim Smith, Mike Watkins (Track and Road) and Alex Wieseler. After joining the team late in the 2025 season, “The fastest type 1 diabetic in the USA” Justin McQuerry joins the team for a full season of crit racing on top of his gravel season. Brand new to the team for 2026 we have, Gabe Porterfield, Luke Pharis, Jura Gerlach, and Riley Wrightsman. The team has a much larger race schedule, starting the season at the Pace Bend Omnium in Austin, Texas. They will then attend most of the major National and Midwest regional races before finishing the season aiming to improve on their performance in the ACC. The CWD track squad will be heading to Europe this year to focus on making the US national squad and aiming for an Olympic berth In Las Angeles.
In 2026, the whole organization is hoping to build on the successes of 2025, and are already looking to the future possibilities ahead.
