We recently returned to The Criterium Nation Chronicle headquarters and found a healthy amount of dust on the books and desks. After rolling up our sleeves and opening up new Swiffer dusters, we got to work getting things in order and are ready to open up shop again. The season got away from us. We experimented with a variety of different ways of reaching crit racing fans this year and settled on three distinct means of keeping you all informed- the podcast, Instagram and The Chronicle.
We realized that each of these mediums has distinct benefits that can help us explain what is happening in crit racing and keep you informed. We are going to use The Chronicle as the main vehicle for race previews and reports, and long-form articles explaining topics that need the attention. The podcast will remain the centerpiece but will shift away from coverage of the day-to-day so we can deliver you comprehensive episodes that make you think and that promote conversations. Then we have Instagram, where we will continue to share copious cat pictures, highlights, and the best race photos we can find.
First up, we have arrived at Episode 100. That’s a hundred episodes of a show about living life one corner at a time. In that time we have grown from a scrappy upstart into a full-fledged part of the Wide Angle Podium. We’ve gone through three different names, a ton of awful catch phrases, and a lot of meowing in the background. It has all been worth it.
To celebrate we turned to the fans and loyal listeners to help write and produce this episode. We took your responses and comments about how to improve racing in the US, sorted, catalogued, and organized them. We now present them to you with our commentary. There are some hot-ish takes but hopefully enough substance to get you thinking and set us up for a good 2023.
